Dear Birders:

The US Fish and Wildlife Service's division of Migratory Bird Management
has recently released its list of Birds of Conservation Concern.

The following birds are listed for the "Southern Appalachians" (listings
for other landscape/habitat areas can be found at the following website
http://migratorybirds.fws.gov/reports/BCC2002.pdf )

While I would, of course, particularly like to receive notification when
you see any of these species in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, I post
this information to enhance conservation interest across the state, region,
and elsewhere.

Upland Sandpiper
Buff-breasted Sandpiper
Black-billed Cuckoo
Short-eared Owl
