I received a call this afternoon from John who works with the State Park here
at Reelfoot and he wanted to let me know that while he was out Duck Hunting
this morning in Champy Pocket on Reelfoot Lake, he killed a Female Scoter and
he thought that it was a black and wanted me to confirm it. I went and saw the
bird and confirmed his ID. It was a rare experience to see the bird up close
and examine it, but sad that it was not alive. We see so few of them here.
But it does document their presence on the lake.
