This morning (3/25/12) at the TVA Pond, instead of 42-44 Whistling Ducks here were 52 standing along the back of the pond. Forty-six ducks were clustered in one group while 6 were further to the left. What appeared to be the original group were active. They were flapping their wings and lifting off the ground looking like small cranes. There are still 34 Scaup on the pond including at least one female Greater. There were a few shorebirds scattered about the many ponds at the sewage treatment area: 12 Killdeer 4 Black-necked Stilts 1 Spotted Sandpiper 2 Greater Yellowlegs 16 Lesser Yellowlegs 3 Least Sandpipers 2 Pectoral Sandpipers Other birds of interest were: 152 American Coots 8 Pied-billed Grebes 28 Blue-winged Teal and over 75 Brown-headed Cowbirds Virginia Reynolds Memphis Shelby County=================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER==================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
