We went to visit the field where Jay Desgrosellier and Chris Sloan reported Henslow's Sparrow in Land-Between-the-Lakes (a vaction from the fields in Fort Campbell during the rain). The Henslow's Sparrows were still there (we counted 6 singing males, and one bird was carrying food), but the surprise came when a male BOBOLINK flushed up after listening a little while. This was surprizing because ! saw my last Bobolink at Fort Campbell on the 28th of May, and I have been watching for them everyday since then. We also had Green Heron, Great Blue Heron, Red-winged Blackbird, Prairie Warbler, and Yellow-breasted Chat. The field was just after mile marker 4 coming in from the south entrance of the park on the right side. It looks like they might be getting ready to mow the field soon. --Jim Giocomo (with Scott Dykes) Stewart County =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Topographical Maps located at http://topozone.com/find.asp * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Tennessee Ornithological Society web site at http://www.tnbirds.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net Owner: Wallace Coffey, Bristol, TN jwcoffey@xxxxxxxxxx (423) 764-3958 =========================================================
