TN birders, Finally got out after a matter of weeks of not much birding. Finally connected on my first of year Eastern wood-pewee heard on Lauderback Road in the south end of the county. At the opposite end in Charleston, had the following birds at either Cleveland Wastewater Treatment Plant(CW) or South Mouse Creek: double-crested cromorant-9-SMC-first time in my 25+ yrs of birding to have them at this site-foy for county great blue heron-SMC osprey-SMC-occasionally at this site killdeer-CW-lone bird spotted sandpiper-CW-foy for TN solitary sandpiper-3-CW-foy for county semipalmated sandpiper-7-CW-foy for TN least sandpiper-13-CW pectoral sandpiper-CW-foy for TN ruby-throated hummingbird-SMC-foy for county belted kingfisher-SMC red-bellied woodpecker-SMC eastern kingbird-SMC carolina wren-SMC northern mockingbird-SMC European starling-SMC-thankfully, you usually don't see them at this site blue grosbeak-SMC-m,f All of the birds were on the back pond at CW, but all were a little skittish today.
