TN birders, John Henderson and I spent the morning in the 3 listed counties with the following highlights: co Blythe Ferry landing and WMA-Meigs Mute swan-landing-FOY Canvasback-5m-landing ring-necked duck-~300 from gazebo bald eagle-2imm, ad from landing northern harrier-f from gazebo white-crowned sparrow-20 in bush by propane tank on road to landing just past the right turn to the WMA. This has been a tough year bird for Chattanooga birders this year. co-FOY for John. Windy Hill Farm on Blythe Ferry lane-Meigs Gadwall hooded merg-3 bald eagle-2 ad Gunstocker Creek-Meigs Co-few sandhill cranes and great blue herons Sugar Creek-Meigs Co red-shouldered hawks-2 Candies Creek-Bradley Co great blue heron-~40 great egret-2-FOY for John rusty blackbird-12 South Mouse Creek-Bradley Co singles of ring-billed gull, Wilson's snipe, and belted kingfisher Wright Farm-Bradley Co For those of you who got to bird this great area, you will remember it as the most reliable place for loggerhead shrike in Bradley Co. For those who remember 20 or so years back, this was the site where Joe Stone found a Western Kingbird. Anyway, this site will now be referred to as Wacker, and the habitat has largely been destroyed. The lovely home of Robert and Barbara Wright is now being used as offices. It is a shame. Standifer Gap Marsh-Hamilton Co red-shouldered hawk-3 including mating sighting sora-heard when John pitched a rock into the marsh-FOY for both of us. Unfortunately, no Virginia rail heard. few Canada geese and mallards was the total waterfowl picture Brainerd Levee-Hamilton Co Canada goose-60 Gadwall-m Mallard-m Northern shoveler-6 Northern pintail-5m,f-seen in the reregulation pond behind the water that parallels the levee between the 1.0 and 1.2 mile signs going from the Shallowford Road end. This has been a stubborn year species for Chattanooga birders this year.
