Today I observed an adult Brown-headed Nuthatch feeding suet to two
immature birds in my backyard. The two young birds exhibited classic
begging behavior. Both young differed from the adults in having a grayer
crown reminiscent of a Pygmy Nuthatch.

A pair of adults have been coming to my feeders since November. And I have
been hearing what appeared to be a family flock for a couple of weeks, but
today is the first day I was able to confirm that the birds successfully
bred this year. I am not aware of any other breeding records of
Brown-headed Nuthatch in Franklin Co (though there may well be such
records).
