CORRECTION:
I incorrectly cited the location of the sightings on Wednesday as being near
Turner Lane, instead of the correct name, Thompson Lane.

ADDITIONS:
SUNDAY 29 MAY 2005
Washington Co., TN

At the same site as Wednesday's sighting, on Charlie Carson Rd. in Washington
Co., TN, I observed two male BOBOLINKS repeatedly flying out over the uncut
hayfield and back to their fenceposts, seeming to slow down over a certain area
of the field, and at times landing in that area. I saw a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE
again, but near the Bobolink field behind the greenhouse/nursery this time. I
also saw a NORTHERN BOBWHITE giving the covey call from a fencepost.

Later in the day, Dianne Draper and I saw the RED-HEADED WOODPECKER at the
Conklin Rd. site between Charlie Dillow Rd. and Nofattie Rd., and heard a BLUE
GROSBEAK at the end of Conklin Rd. nearest to Bailey Bridge.

At the pond on Powell Rd. we observed for a long while a SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPER and a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER, with good side by side comparisons,
both at
rest and in flight. The birds were still there when we left.

At Bud Lane a male DICKCISSEL was singing from the powerline halfway between
the first and second barn. As we watched, he flew down to a female DICKCISSEL
perched in the tall grass. It happened so quickly I'm not sure it was
successful, but he appeared to make copulatory contact with her, after which
she
shook and preened before disappearing into the grass.
