Nashville (Davidson) - 9-16-18
I birded the Burch Reserve of Warner Parks in Nashville yesterday morning.
I unofficially have dubbed the first section of the trail loop, going
clockwise through the forest bottom, as "Thrush Alley." Wood Thrushes are
there singing in consistent numbers all Summer and Hermits take their place
in the winter. Huge numbers of Robins can be down there.
Yesterday I had at least 8 Swainson's Thrushes, one confirmed Gray-cheeked
Thrush (which conveniently called and pointed itself out), and at least 3
Wood Thrushes "wit" volleying and chasing one another. All in that
location. I probably undercounted each species. Another Swainson's was on
the other side of the hill in the wooded ravine between the meadows.
Other neotropical migrants were scarce, except for American Redstarts.
Besides at least 7 AMRE, I had one Magnolia and one FOS Black-throated
Green.
