Ken/Ed, Love to see a photo of the Harris's (not doubting it), getting late for them in the state, and it should be in pretty nice plumage by this time! I had an April bird a few years ago, and by late April it was really nice and silver-headed. Regarding the Grosbeak, there are a fair number of Black-headed records, though very few recent ones unfortunately. They are scattered across the state, with a number from east and middle, though as Ed mentioned extreme west TN is well represented. The last one I remember was one Jeff had in the spring several years ago, up in Lake Co if I remember correctly (on the road to Island 13). We need another one; i.e. I need one in TN! :") I should be seeing some in a couple of days, but they won't help my state list any.... Not sure if there are any TN records for black-headed, but I imagine it would take a heck of a west to east storm to blow one in from, say, central TX during Spring migration (the closest point on the range map). Alas, you never know! Ed Davidson Co. p.s.- if one were to show up, Shelby Co. would be a good place to expect it! ________________________________ Date: Tue, 29 Apr 2014 20:29:41 -0500 Subject: [TN-Bird] CORRECTION- Grosbeak From: kenman75@xxxxxxxxx To: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Hi All, Sorry I was looking at a dark picture when I posted earlier, I got a better picture the bill is much more pale than we thought.
