January 5 Cades Cove, Hyatt Lane Watched Northern Harriers from 3:00 P.M. until 4:15 P.M. That's when the short-eared owl appeared. The owl sat on a tree for nearly 5 minutes and I was lucky to be with some other birders, one of whom had a scope. Everyone got great looks. The owl flew off before I could get close enough for any decent photos. Luckily when I was leaving the owl landed on a tree directly above my car. Those photos are attached.
