The Calliope Hummingbird reported earlier in the Louisville area of Blount
County was seen at about 5:00 p.m. By David Trently and Harold Howell. The
homeowner, Mrs. McMillan, had video of the bird which was also viewed by
Marcia Davis, Charlie Muise, Jean Alexander and David Johnson.
Unfortunately, the bird did not make another appearance after these folks
arrived at approximately 5:30 p.m.

The telephone number in the earlier post is wrong. Please do not call that
number.

The homeowners have graciously invited birders to come and view the
hummingbird tomorrow, Thursday October 30, 2003 only, between the hours of
10:00 a.m. And 3:00 p.m. They need to limit visitation to these hours due
to work schedules. Calling is not necessary.

Directions to the McMillan house:
From Knoxville, take I-140 (Pellessippi Parkway extension) toward the
Airport. Take Exit 9, Topside Drive, and turn right on Topside Drive (also
known as State Route 333) to the end at a stop sign. Turn left on
Louisville Road and travel a short distance to a Shell gas station on the
left. There turn right onto Miser Station Road. Travel 3.6 miles by
odometer to a mailbox on the right marked 3981. There turn left onto a
gravel drive. The McMillan house is back in the wooded area a good distance
from Miser Station Road, and cannot be seen from the road. On arrival you
may park to the back of the house, but enter the covered porch from the
front steps. At the top of the steps, turn right on the covered porch to
the corner, from which the hummingbird feeders may be viewed.

If you have any questions, Please call Harold Howell at 865-828-6302 tonight
or before 7:00 a.m. In the morning, or at 865-659-2736 (cell) after 7:00
a.m.

Good birding to all,

Harold Howell
