You have reached Kevin Calhoon with the Chattanooga RBA, sponsored by the
Chattanooga Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society.
This is Update Number #32 made on December 7, 2002.
One Great Egret was observed at Blythe Ferry, Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge,
Meigs co. on December 5. (David Aborn)
Waterfowl are migrating through our area. On December 4 a raft of at least
500 ducks was in the middle of the channel out from Windward Point (just
downstream from Booker T Washington St Pk). The visibility was terrible,
but the raft was mostly made up of Lesser Scaup, Common Goldeneye,
Bufflehead and a few scattered Redheads. On December 6 most of the ducks had
moved through, but there were still a few small rafts made up of Lesser
Scaup, Black Duck, Goldeneye, and Bufflehead. Also,several rafts of Horned
Grebes (127 total) were present as they are migrating through our area.

The next general meeting of the Chattanooga TOS will be on December 12 at
7:00
PM at the Accension Luthern Church 720 South Germantown Road.
Remember the Chattanooga CBC is being held on December 14 and the Hiwassee
CBC is on Jan 1. The compilation for the Chattanooga CBC is at 6:00 at the
Accension Luthern Church. If you have any questions about either CBC call

The Nickajack CBC is being held on December 28. For questions about this
count call Johnny Parks at 706-937-7163.
