Dear Listers...if anyone in the area is interested in watching a classic
display of "coming to roost" a quick trip to Governor's Square Mall at about 8
pm is just the trick. Steve and I happened upon it this evening after a trip
to Border's Books.
Located just behind the Toys R Us is a large fenced drainage ditch that has a
good bit of secondary small tree growth. We sat adjacent for about 30 minutes
watching thousands upon thousands of European Starlings, Common Crackles and
Brown-headed Cowbirds drop into the roast. At times the stream of birds seemed
endless. The entire event lasted till about 8:25 pm and suddenly all we could
hear was the calling of Fowler's Toads.
Who knew a trip to the book store would turn into a birding event?!

Till next time,
Happy Birding!
