I flushed a Common Nighthawk off a nest containing two eggs in a West Highland Rim barrens in Decatur County yesterday. I am not aware of any nighthawk nest reports from the barrens of the West Highland Rim so I thought this note might be important to pass along. They nest in glades of the Central Basin so it is not surprising to find a nest in the barrens which are similar in habitat structure (treeless or nearly treeless area with open areas of solid rock and/or gravel). The nest was on a small strip of gravel surrounded by herbaceous vegetation. Allan Trently ajtcorax@xxxxxxxxxxx Jackson, Madison County, TN
