I was eating dinner on the back porch with my wife about 6:30 pm central and listening to a Palm Warbler (I eventually saw the bird and it was a Western), which was a new bird for the yard when I said that my first nighthawks arrived on 30 Apr last year. Five minutes later a pair of nighthawks were flying around behind the house calling their distinct "peent" call. They put on a nice show too. They must nest on a roof top somewhere nearby as they are around daily through the summer. Cheers, Scott Somershoe State Ornithologist Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency P.O.
