I arrived at Bill's Mother's house just before 8:00 this morning and waited patiently watching all the Gold Finches and House Finches at the many feeders, but did not see the Redpoll. Clyde Blum from Chattanooga arrived about 11:00 and came to my car window and I told him I had not seen the bird, and he immediately said there it is in the bush (too low for me to see from where I was). I got out of the car and the bird was gone. We took a lunch break around noon and arrived back to see Damien Siembeck there again; also Lorna West from South Alabama, along with Bill. They had not seen the bird. Clyde had to leave around 1:00 and Lorna also need to head back to Mobile. See and I were just saying goodbye about 1:20 when I took one last time at the bush and there the Redpoll sat, surrounded by Goldfinches. We had great looks before it left again without going to a feeder. We both left very happy and glad that we had lingered just a little longer. Thanks to Bill and his Mom for the hospitality and the great directions.
