Had some time to briefly check Cove Lake State Park this morning on the way to
work.
(Campbell County /N. of Knoxville)
Was surprised and thrilled to hear a WARBLING VIREO. I located him in the
tops of Willow trees. Watched him over 2o minutes for confirming ID. Strange,
but the bird was in the same tree I had one here about 5 years ago!
He may stay around a day or so. Walk out towards the fishing pier. Continue
apx 150 feet and start looking on the left in tops of trees. Listen for the
bubbly song.
- Spring firsts today (though I'd not checked the park in a few days)
- Hooded Warbler- singing back short loop trail
- Yellow Throated Warbler as well as 3 YELLOW THROATED VIREOS on the
back look trail near beaver dam.
- 2 Eastern Kingbirds
I listened diligently for either Swainsons Warbler or Prothonotary but heard
neither.
Prothonotary Warblers have always been at Cove early..
Other species entered into ebird.
Good Spring birding all!
