Some fairly good indications of migratory movement at Cross Creeks NWR in
Stewart County this AM, 8/19. The refuge continues to drain the pool 2abc
area lower than I have personally seen it, creating some great wader
habitat. Highlights were 186 Great Egrets, 17 Little Blue Herons, and 7
Snowy Egrets. Notable migrants included 9 Caspian Terns, 1 Stilt Sandpiper,
and 1 Buff-breasted Sandpiper, along with the usual Pectoral, Least, and
Semipalmated Sandpipers.
