This morning while outside birding, I heard crows mobbing something. Crows came in by the 20s and 30s. I headed up to the woods to see what they ere mobbing, it ended up being 2 adult and 1 immature Red-shouldered Hawks. They took off one at a time as I came closer. Once they were gone, almost all the crows took off after them. Thinking that everything was gone, I got right up to the tree, and 2 Great Horned Owls flew out! Lately, I've been having a female hummer "own" our feeder. It has extensive buff on its sides. I was thinking it almost looked like a female rufous, but after watching it through the scope and having it perch on my hand for a "six-inch-away" view, I've concluded that it must just be a female Ruby-throated with lots of rufous color on its sides. Warbler and Vireo numbers have dropped big time, the only things I had today was 1 Tennessee, 1 American Redstart, and one Red-eyed Vireo. David Hollie Ringgold, GA Catoosa Co.
