> A simple search turned up this article from the American Council on > Science and Health-sounds like a credible organization>(?): > http://www.acsh.org/publications/reports/ddt2002.html > What they say sounds a lot like the senator-scary. Don't be so sure that this industry funded disinformation organization is credible. It just could be there is a financial interest involved. See this web site for another point of view. http://www.mindfully.org/Pesticide/ACSH-Koop.htm Here's an excerpt: " ACSH is heavily financed by corporations with specific and direct interest in ACSH's chosen battles. Since it was created in 1978, it has come to the enthusiastic defense of virtually every chemical or additive backed by a major corporate interest. In many of these cases, investigative journalists already have exposed direct connections between ACSH and its funders." And another: "ACSH receives 76 percent of its funding from corporations and corporate funders, and 17 percent of its funding from private foundations, according to Congressional Quarterly's Public Interest Profiles." Remember to beware of what you read on the internet, including this link. However, in judging the credibility of the opinions rendered ask yourself this question. Who has the most to gain financially if DDT were to be approved for use in the U.S.? Might it be some large chemical company that helps fund this organization?
