I had an Eared Grebe hanging with Pied-bills out in the Duck River
Mudflats area this afternoon. I had to cross a field to get fairly close
range looks. This is the first County record in quite a few years.
Other notable birds in the area were two Bonaparte's Gulls (FOS) 4
Franklin's Gulls, two American Golden and 5 Black-bellied Plovers and a
Western Sandpiper hanging with a group of 40 Dunlin. I didn't get time to
check all the shorebird spots.
Also more Coots and diving ducks have arrived at the Pump Station,
including good numbers of Ruddy Ducks and some Scaup and Ring-necked Ducks.
