[TN-Bird] Elizabethton Fall Count

Elizabethton Fall Count --  this traditional count
was held on Sat., 24 Sep.

32 observers in 8 groups covered Carter County and parts of adjacent
Johnson, Sullivan, Washington, & Unicoi counties.

This year 119 species were found.  The average number for the last ten
years is 121 species & the all-time high is 137 found in 1993.

Highlights:  Gadwall (early), Eared Grebe - 3, Great Egret - 3, also 3
of each night-heron, Bald Eagle - 1, Merlin - 2, Peregrine Falcon - 4,
N. Saw-whet Owl - 1, Red-headed Woodpecker - 3, Great Crested Flycatcher
(late), Loggerhead Shrike - 1, Philadelphia Vireo - 2, twenty-one
species of warblers (including Blue-winged, Blackpoll, Kentucky, & Y-b
Chat), Bobolink - 1.
