While walking my dog at Greenway Farms this morning, I heard several FOS
migrants; Blue-winged Warbler, Gray Catbird, Blackpoll Warbler.

This past week, I was at the North American Crane Workshop in Lafayette,
Louisiana. Aside from being an outstanding conference, on Wednesday (4/16), we
had field trips to the White Lake Conservation Area, where Whooping Cranes have
been reintroduced over the past 3 years, and to the Lacassine National Wildlife
Refuge. For those that might be interested, my list from the trip is below (80
spp). We did see 4 Whooping Cranes (30 have been released), but did not get to
see the Whooping Crane nest; it is the first nesting in Louisiana in 70 years.
If they are viable, the two eggs should hatch in the next week or so. I also
added a new species to my life list; Fulvous Whistling-Duck, seen at Lacassine
NWR. Top it off with great Cajun food, and the trip was quite enjoyable, to say
the least! BTW, the next workshop will be in Chattanooga in 2017, so stay tuned!
