We have our FOS Ruby-throated Hummingbird this morning at 6:50 a.m. - a mature
male. Even in the semi-darkness and rain he is beautiful. He actually arrived
last night but we failed to see him. After supper, when we would normally
watch the feeders until dark, an unexpected visitor kept us occupied until
9:00. But when the visitor left we found a phone message from our neighbor
saying she had seen a hummingbird at the feeder at 7:00 p.m. It sure does
brighten up a dreary weather morning to see this anxiously watched for little
fellow. Our first one last year was March 30 but with the frequent cold fronts
lately we were beginning to wonder if it might be weeks later before one showed
up this year.
