I had two or more yellow-billed cuckoos in sugar maples in my back yard this
morning in Birchwood (Hamilton County.) I watched one of them catch a
caterpillar. Several moments later the same bird caught a rather large tree
frog. I didn't see the final act of the drama, but I don't think it ended well
for the frog.

After a frontal passage yesterday, the birds were more active than they had
been recently. I noted 19 species in about two hours around home. I was
disappointed that I didn't find a warbler. Several blue jays, robins, and
mockingbirds were feeding on ripe fox grapes in a walnut tree that hosts a very
large grape vine.
