I visited Gibson County Lake this afternoon and there was a huge raft of ducks (~10,000) on the lake! The vast majority were Lesser Scaup but there were some other species mixed in. I visited the lake last Friday and had zero ducks here so this is a big change from last week! Diagnostic wing pattern was noted...white stripes in the wings extended all the way onto the primary feathers.) Lesser Scaup - 9500 Hooded Merganser - 1 Ruddy Duck - 4 Common Loon - 1 Pied-billed Grebe - 2 Double-crested Cormorant - 1 Great Blue Heron - 2 Bald Eagle - 1 American Coot - 50 Killdeer - 8 Belted Kingfisher - 2 Waterfowl migration is in full swing!
