Grainger County: Cherokee Lake and immediate vicinity 
Greene County: Greeneville, etc. 
Hamblen County: Whitesburg and points along the shore of Cherokee Lake 
Jefferson County: Cherokee Dam area and Jefferson City 

A trip to Cherokee Lake, along with a few stops in Greene County, produced a 
nice assortment of late winter-early spring observations. Highlights include 

Lesser Scaup (200 Grainger) 
Bufflehead (6 Jefferson) 
Common Loon (Grainger) 
Double-crested Cormorant (32 Grainger, 30 Hamblen, 145 Jefferson) 
Bald Eagle (1 adult in Grainger and Jefferson (Cherokee Lake), 1 adult in 
Jefferson (Jefferson City)) 
American Coot (6 Grainger, 15 Jefferson) 
Bonaparte's Gull (29 Grainger, 600 Hamblen, 155 Jefferson) 
Ring-billed Gull (26 Grainger, 200 Hamblen, 2172 Jefferson) 
Herring Gull (Hamblen) 
Eurasian Collared-Dove (Hamblen (Hwy. 11-E in western part of Whitesburg)) 
Great Horned Owl (Greene (downtown Greeneville)) 
Common Raven (2 Greene (Bridge Burners Blvd.)) 
Tree Swallow (5 Grainger) 
Northern Rough-winged Swallow (1 Greene, 2 Jefferson) 
Barn Swallow (5 Grainger) 
Golden-crowned Kinglet (2 Grainger) 
Brown Thrasher (2 Grainger) 
Pine Warbler (Grainger) 
Palm Warbler (Jefferson) 
Chipping Sparrow (3 Grainger) 
Savannah Sparrow (2 Jefferson) 
Dark-eyed Junco (Grainger)
