May 8, 2012 There are three noticeable fieldmarks that point to a Horned and not Eared Grebe: 1. the solid vs. wispy yellow on the side of the head, 2. the rufous vs. black neck, and 3. the speckled and not solid back pattern-a very nice plumage we don't often see.
