Birders,The Hickory- Priest CBC was conducted this past Tuesday, January 1st.
Eighteen people in 4 parties participated in the "Lakes Count" covering areas
on the east side of Nashville. We were treated to unusually mild New Years Day
weather. Total species came out to 92, which is right at average for this
count. Some highlights included: WHITE-EYED VIREO reported on count day, plus
another found count week. This continues a trend this winter for finding late &
lingering birds. On the Old Hickory route Orange-crowned Warblers (3) and Amer.
White Pelicans (106) are becoming regular on this winter count. One Purple
Finch and 3 Red-breasted Nuthach were found; Rusty Blackbirds were found on two
routes. Merlin, which was missed last year, made it back on the list this year.
