In answer to Mr. Kamp's question, the cranes do not start arriving in decent
numbers until around Thanksgiving. Once the refuge closes, everyone is
restricted to the viewing area or the river until it reopens in March, unless
you get special permission. When the refuge is open, people can go where they
please.
