As of 5:45 p.m. today, no further sightings of the hooded crane had been made at Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge, Meigs Co., since Mike's observation at 10:15 a.m. A juvenile direct autumn release (DAR) whooping crane was seen a little after 5 p.m. Better viewing weather is expected tomorrow and Sunday, so perhaps it will be easier to spot the hooded crane and more whooping cranes then. I was scanning distant flocks with the scope, and no one else got on it. Bird is still here though. No Whooping Cranes yet today.
