December 27, 2003
Knox County
At about 3:30 pm today I observed 40 HORNED LARKS at the UT Plant Science Farm
on the TN River. They were feeding in the corn stubble field. I found no
longspurs, which was my target bird, but was very pleased with the larks which
have been absent during the 3 years I have birded the area. Pipits were also
absent, however everything was widely scattered during this fair and very mild
day. Whoever covers this area 14 on the Knoxville Christmas Count would do well
to be there at 7:30 in the morning.

Good Birding,
