[TN-Bird] Hummer pendulum display

I sat out on the patio around 5:30 and immediately had two  hummers 
approach the feeder then turn and give chase.  The two were  visible hovering 
in 
the branches of a maple.  One of the hummers  displayed the "pendulum swing" 
three times.  I wondered if that  display sometimes occurs as an aggression 
display or if this was a  sign that a female was present.  Anybody know?
 
In the next twenty minutes, I had five male visits to the  feeder.
