Greetings Birders,

Today has been another busy day at "Dee's Hummer-Port" in the Charlotte
Park section of West Nashville, Davidson County. Streams of hummers have
been approaching from the northwest, one at a time, every three to five minutes
all day. They stop at my feeder, sip for a few minutes, then most fly off
to the southeast to continue their migration. A few fly into the trees in
the back yard and rest or come back and forth to the feeder to "tank up."
I feel sort of like an air traffic controller for hummingbirds. They've
kept me busy all week, EVEN WHEN IT HAS BEEN RAINING!!!!!!!!!! Sad to
think that they'll all be gone in a few days. Of course, a TRUE birdwatcher
can always hope for a "traveler" which is one of the many western U.S.
species that may decide to winter where one's feeder is close at hand. I do
leave my feeder up and filled just in case one comes for a visit in the
winter.
Have never had one here yet, but........................hopefully, some
winter in the future.

Dee Thompson
Nashville, TN
