A dangerous new virus called W32/Klez.h@MM threatens home computer users.

It was detected just last week and has caused serious problems to many
personal and business machines across the nation.

It does not require that you open an attachment! It will activate if you simply
open the e-mail message.

The worm mails itself to email addresses in the Windows Address Book, plus
addresses extracted from files on the victim machine. It arrives in an email
message whose subject and body is composed from a pool of strings carried
within the virus. For example:

Subject: A very funny website
or Subject: 1996 Microsoft Corporation
or Subject: Hello,honey
or Subject: Initing esdi
or Subject: Editor of PC Magazine.
or Subject: Some questions
or Subject: Telephone number

Do not open any messages that have any of the above subject lines.

Ken Hale, a TN-Bird subscriber, had it to invade his McAfee antivirus
program and then take down his operating system. He has had a computer tech
working for 8 hours to recover his system.

McAfee acknowledges on their website that it is invading their antivirus
programs and have an updated fix for uses to prevent such a problem.

You can read detailed technical information from the McAfee virus
website at:

http://vil.mcafee.com

or more specific at:

http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=99455

They have raised the risk assessment of this threat to Medium after seeing
an increase in prevalence in just 24 hours. Home users are at a greater risk
of infection, as they tend to update their DATs less frequently then
corporations. As such, the risk of becoming infected in a corporate
environment is lower.

I hope this is helpful information and that is serves the best interest of
of our subscribers.
