This Monday morning I went to Seven Points Recreation Area/Campground
on J. Percy Priest Lake to search for the WESTERN GREBE found by
Richard Connors and Jan Shaw over the weekend. After a short search
of the cove area, the bird was found with several HORNED GREBEs in
the more open area of the lake to the right of the boat ramp and
eventually swam to the left of the boat ramp. It was well seen from
the boat ramp for perhaps 20-25 minutes although eventually it
disappeared, and I could not refind it over the last 20 minutes
that I was there.
There were very few ducks or loons on the lake. Duck decoys were
seen at several spots and at times a number of loud gunshots were
heard.
