Falkland Islands Government Fisheries Department

Fisheries and Seabird Observers
£17,776 to £20,498 pa + sea-going allowance of £31.55 per day

The Fisheries Department has vacancies for Scientific Fisheries Observers 
(one year posts) and Seabird Observers (six months or one year) to commence 
work from July 2005 onwards.

Fisheries Observers will be required to spend periods of up to five weeks at 
sea to collect biological and other data on ships fishing in Falkland 
waters. Seabird Observers may be at sea for longer periods, and will be 
required to monitor the interactions between seabirds and the longline 
fishing gear and ensure mitigation measures are adhered to.

Applicants should have at least a BSc in a Zoological or Biological subject.
