This morning I was actually on my way to do something other than birding for
the entire day and decided to bail out and go birding all day. I swung through
Paris Landing SP (Henry Co) through Pace Point.

Rocky Point on Big Sandy Unit, TN NWR
Red-necked Grebe - 1, swam by fairly close to shore with Horned and Pied-blled
Grebes
Bufflehead - 4, off Pace Point

Eagle Creek embayment
Dunlin - 9
White-rumped Sandpiper - 1. I watched this bird off and on for 45 min.
According to my records, this is the latest record in Tennessee. No photos,
but I got quite a nice study of this bird.
Forster's Terns - 14

General notes:
Horned Grebes were abundant (75-150+ individuals) in most places I visited
(500+ seen today)
Pied-billed Grebes equally as abundant (500+ seen today)
Am. Coots - probably >6000 seen
Common Loon fairly abundant, about 100 seen from Rocky Point

Hundreds of Am. Wigeon, Mallards, Gadwall, Ruddy Ducks, and a couple
Ring-necked Ducks and N Pintail were around Pace Point. Good numbers of ducks
at Britton Ford, but all were at the limit of my spotting scope (many were
ruddy ducks).

Ring-billed Gulls in surprisingly small numbers with Bonaparte's Gulls in even
smaller numbers (5 total on the day).

White Pelicans (25) only seen in Lick Creek and a few later in Eagle Creek.

Good birding,
Scott Somershoe
