I'm forwarding this at the request of Dave Roemer. Chris Sloan Nashville, TN http://www.chrissloanphotography.com ---------- Forwarded message ---------- The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources has proposed a season on Sandhill Cranes beginning in December. The department will meet in May to discuss the issue and decide in June if there will be a season. Public input now may impact that decision. Since the Eastern Population of Sandhills is shared by many states, hunting in any of them will affect the bird's behavior and crane watching opportunities in all states that share them. More information can be found here: http://kyc4sandhillcranes.wordpress.com/ Please send respectful letters of opposition to the KDFWR commissioners and the governor as well as others involved in the decision. If you are a hunter or not opposed to hunting in general please include this information. It's important for the KDFWR to realize that it's not only anit-hunters opposing the crane hunt. Addresses and other contact information can be found at: http://kyc4sandhillcranes.wordpress.com/call-to-action/ My ideas on the proposal can be found here: //www.freelists.org/post/birdky/Thoughts-On-Hunting-Cranes Sign an online petition here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/sandhill-cranes-new-plan/ If a season on the Eastern Population is initiated in any state others will follow. Please help protect the cranes.
