This afternoon I returned to the Cove at Concord Park in west Knox County,
Tennessee. Yesterday's 63 Lesser Scaup were gone. In their place I found a
Common Loon, then 3 Common Loons, all in breeding plumage. The lone loon had
been fairly close but by the time I went to the car and got my scope it was
near the far bank where it remained after being joined by two others. While
watching the 3 loons a flock of turkeys emerged from the trees beyond them.
That's a first for me here.

At one point three ospreys were in the sky. Two were circling together. The
third, off on its own, was circling with a fish in its talons and calling
loudly. Perhaps a male trying to lure a mate? Don't know.

A Lesser Yellowlegs, was working the muddy puddles in the west pond which
doesn't hold much water. At least one Purple Martin was seen.

Glad I came back. Sorry I have to work tomorrow. Who knows what surprises the
Cove may hold then. Someone should go check.
