My dear Mr. Thornton you flatter me no end!!!! How, pray tell is not wanting an exotic domestic species to destroy native wildlife "loving the birds to death?" And what in the world do you mean by "public intrusions into wildlife habitat to be ecoterrorism?" Wanting you to keep your cat in the house is ecoterrorism?? Are you kidding??? What would you do if a law was passed that would not allow you to let your cat outside? I guess that the state of New York was practicing ecoterrorism when they passed a law outlawing the importation of plumes for ladies hats into their state, thus beginning the movement that saved at least 4 species of birds from being extirpated from North America. Was banning DDT ecoterrorism too? I've hunted birds, & I support most scientific collecting that takes place. I have friends who are falconers, & I support the hobby. I'm not a bunny hugger by any means. But what you dismiss in such a disturbingly cavalier manor is just plain wrong. The evidence that house cats kill millions of birds is overwhelming, & no credible ornithologist or wildlife biologist will stand in your corner. If you want to learn a little about just how bad the problem is, do a GOOGLE search on the words: "cats killing birds." What you will pull up is 25400 sites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After reading the first 10 you should be able to see the error of your ways. Maybe it will take your reading the first 100 sites to gain the enlightenment that it will require to change your mind. Then again, I have this gut feeling that if you read all 25400 sites & became the worlds leading authority on the subject, you would still get your jollies watching you cat "do his thing." I can't explain in words how hard it is for me to remain polite & not use the several 4 letter words that are the only ones that would truly and accurately describe you & your behavior. You do not own the wild birds in your yard, all the people of the western hemisphere do. It's against the law for you to sit at your window with a b b gun & pop off song birds. Letting your cat roam free is absolutely no different. Shame on & all of you who are guilty of this irresponsible, thoughtless, behavior. Light up & enjoy Mr. Thornton!
