Definitely one of my favorite birds as well. I had one in the yard this
past Sunday. I watched it as it flew out of a tree and then perched on the
top of our yard swing and as it approached every bird at the feeders
cleared out including the Mourning Doves! The only bird which seemed to
not be spooked by it's presence was a N. Mockingbird which was sitting in a
tree next to the swing. I have witnessed mockingbirds chasing shrikes in
the yard on a couple of different occasions but generally the mockers just
ignore the shrike.

Good birding,

What a great bird to have on your yard list. About 10-15
years ago, one terrorized the feeders at my parents' home
in Jefferson Co. for a couple of winters. Definitely one
of my top 5 favorite birds.

A few years ago, I found a starling that a shrike had cached,
impaled on barbwire at the base of the skull. Go shrike!
