My mom, siblings, and I were surprised to find a Merlin near Lytle Creek Road this morning, January 14th. If you follow Lytle Creek Road until it turns into Welchance Road, you'll come to a small gravel loop on the right with a tiny pond surrounded by cedars and other trees. (I think the address is 4533 Welchance Road.) The bird was perched on a telephone pole here, then flew across the road and landed in the top of a tall deciduous tree.
