Aug. 5, 2005 Ensley Bottoms and Mississippi River Front, Shelby Co. TN A fast trip through the pits saw a good increase in numbers with quite a spread of peeps. A scan from various locations revealed all the regular suspects plus a Greater Yellowlegs that circled the area continually calling and finally headed west toward the river. At the river front, strewn along the various sandbars were 21 Black-necked Stilts, Killdeer, Lesser Yellowlegs, Willet, Spotted, Solitary, Least, Pectoral and one Wilson's Phalarope. There were no gulls or terns except for the scattered Least Terns. A single DC Cormorant sunned on an exposed stump on Dacus Bar. Tomorrow should be even better. Good Birding!!! Jeff R.
