At Melton Hill Park in west Knox County this morning I was feeling happy to have just seen my first fall Palm Warbler hunting with the bluebirds and phoebes from the fence along the entrance road. Then I turned right at the fork to go out to the north boat ramp and was startled to see an adult Bald Eagle perched at the top of a small tree just to the left of the ramp. I was pretty close, stopped the car and was just thinking about grabbing my camera on the seat beside me when the darned eagle read my mind and left. It was a beautiful day at the park, lots of birds but not a lot of warblers though I did also find a Magnolia. Carole Gobert, Knoxville
