[TN-Bird] Memorial Fund benefitting Rehab Birds

Dear Fellow Birders,

I am writing to you on behalf of the family of Kristen Holzapfel. Kristen was 
the young daughter of wonderful friends of ours before an act of violence took 
her life on February 1st. She was shot fatally in the back. She died with only 
a few quarters in her pocket.You may have heard of the murder in Murfreesboro. 
Anyhow, to make a long story short, I learned through this tragedy that Kris 
was an animal lover and volunteered many hours at Walden's Puddle. A endowment 
memorial fund has been set up in her memory by her family to build an outdoor 
aviary needed for pre-release conditioning of hawks, owls, and vultures. At 
this point, the staff has to use a long leash. 

Kris' parents went to check out the facilities and were very impressed. They 
are the type of people to make sure the operation is legitimate & and is a 
representation of what their daughter would have appreciated.

So, if you or your organization would like to help fulfill a need for our avian 
friends and contribute to a memory of a fellow animal lover, please consider. 
The family previously lost a daughter just late summer to cancer, so tragedy is 
not new but still very painful, as expected. When I mentioned to the mother 
we'd post it on this site to see if any of you could contribute, she was 
tearfully grateful.

Again, any contribution in Kris' memory would be greatly appreciated.
