Lyons Bend/Cove Island
Knox County

Yesterday (February 15), while birding along the lakeshore, I observed
a female Merlin for about 15 minutes in a sycamore. I have been seeing a small
hawk in this area for awhile, but was never able to get a good look at
it till yesterday.

Also:

in the main channel of the lake:
12 Goldeneye
5 Redhead
1 Bald Eagle (sitting on nest in Blount County)

Today, there was a Ross's Goose sitting with a flock of Canadas in
Harrison Keepe neighborhood. Unfortunately, this is a private neighborhood
and they don't like people parking in the neighborhood. This area is
across from UT's farm on Alcoa Highway.
