I seem to get a lot of odd migrants at home passing along Black Oak Ridge which, along with Beaver Ridge across the valley, runs NE to SW across much of the county making a great migration corridor. Tonight (Sunday, 25 May) after dinner, Daniel and I went out to play ball. Around 8:15pm, I spotted a bird soaring high over the house NE along the ridge. I had enough time to run in for the binocs, get back on the bird, and study the distinctive silhouette and flight style as it continued purposefully up the ridge. Mississippi Kite! #166 for the yard and #228 for Knox County.
