August 17th/18th 2018
I met up with Mike Todd, Rick Shipkowski and Chris Agee for some birding
around Island 13 on Friday Evening (17th), and then Chris Agee and I did a
kayak run down the Mississippi River from Island 13 to Fritz Landing on
Saturday forenoon (18th) where we met up with Mark Greene and spent the
rest of the day birding spots along the Mississippi River.

And an unidentified flying raptor passing high over the river above Fritz
Landing heading from Tennessee into Missouri. We couldn't make out plumage
details, but I "felt" like the shape was good for White-tailed Kite. Chris
Agee has poor quality photos from behind that we are working on, but no
conclusions yet.

The other guys also had a high count of 250+ Black Terns at Booths Point
in Dyer County on the 17th, then we had similar numbers at Tiptonville
Landing in Lake County on the 18th. (Mark has the final numbers on that)
Definitely a lot of Black Terns along the Mississippi River right now!
